Santa holds up toys and waves to pediatric patients being treated at Shore Medical Center’s Pediatric Care Center. Santa, along with the Somers Point Police and Somers Point Fire Department, delivered bags full of toys for Shore’s pediatric patients over the holiday season.
SOMERS POINT – Members of the Somers Point Fire Department and Somers Point Police Department took Santa to Shore Medical Center on Friday, December 17, where he spent a few minutes waving at children being treated at the Pediatric Care Center outside.
Parents picked up their children and held them close to the window so they could get a good look, while Santa waved and held up stuffed animals and bags full of toys the SPPD and SPFD donated to pediatric patients this holiday season. Each child hospitalized on Friday received a gift from Santa and the rest will be distributed over the holidays.
The police and fire brigade spread celebrations throughout Somers Point by adopting five local families in need with a total of 14 children to make Christmas exceptional for them this year. The departments also collected toys for the Wyatt Hopkins Blue Christmas Toy Drive, which will be given to patients at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. The Shore Medical Center ICU team also sent Santa a box of toys for the Wyatt Hopkins Christmas Toy Drive.
