Primary pediatric doses of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be available during the COVID-19 vaccine booster event Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Baxter County Fairgrounds. The Baxter County Health Unit of the Arkansas Department of Health will be on site to provide COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 5 to 11. A parent or legal guardian must be present and provide consent and signature to receive the vaccine. Pre-registration is not required for children.
Booster doses of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will also be administered to those eligible, as well as primary doses to anyone 12 years and older who registers using the online form at www.baxterregional.org/vaccine.
Those eligible for the booster are individuals age 65 and older, individuals ages 18 to 64 at high risk of severe COVID-19 due to underlying medical conditions, and individuals ages 18 to 64 whose frequent institutional or occupational exposure puts them at high risk for serious complications from COVID-19. To receive a booster dose, you must have received your second dose six or more months ago (before May 9). Those who complete two primary doses of Pfizer or Moderna or one dose of Johnson and Johnson before September 9 before May 9 are eligible for a third booster dose of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
Those eligible for the third primary dose are individuals 12 years of age or older who are classified as moderately to severely immunocompromised. To receive a third primary dose, you must have received your second dose 28 or more days ago (before October 8, 2021).
Those unable to register for and attend Tuesday’s event may call (870) 508-7001 and select “Vaccine” when prompted to make an appointment for those 12 and older at a regional clinic from Baxter. Doses for children ages 5-11 are available from all local health departments of the Arkansas Department of Health.
