Pediatric COVID cases declining

After several weeks of an increase in the number of new infections with COVID-19 in children, a slight decrease was reported last week.

Nearly 80,000 new cases involving children were reported last week, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association.

But that’s a drop from the more than 88,000 new cases reported last week.

Experts say children accounted for 13.7 percent of all cases.

On April 22, more than 3.71 million children had tested positive since the pandemic began.
