National emergency in children’s health declared

The AAP, AACAP and CHA Call on Policymakers to Act Fast to Address Children’s Mental Health Crisis

This week, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), and the Children’s Hospital Association declared a national emergency for the mental health of children and adolescents. Contemporary Pediatrics spoke with Dr. Matthew Biel, assistant professor of clinical psychiatry and director of child and adolescent psychiatry at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and AACAP member and expert on the current state of emergency and what pediatricians can do to help this national crisis.
