PEORIA, Illinois (WMBD) — On Tuesday, a gym in Morton raised money for a local nonprofit as they got into the Christmas spirit.
BRelentless Training and Performance Center hosted an ugly Christmas sweater workout.
The gym raised money through personal and corporate donations, raffles and merchandise purchases.
The money from the event will benefit the Pediatric Resource Center in Peoria. PRC provides services to underage victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect.
Justin Bolkema, owner of BRelentless, said that in addition to raising money, he hoped the event would also raise awareness of the center.
“A lot of people are not aware of the Pediatric Resource Center or anything they even do, and awareness is one of the most important things. Yes, the money, they are not for profit, but spread awareness, just give back and help those who are less privileged than us,’ said Bolkema.
For every dollar spent on Friday, coaches at the gym had to row on the rowing machine for ten minutes, Bolkema said.
