SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV)–Local pediatricians are inundated with COVID-19 testing at their facilities, and they told NewsChannel 9 how overwhelmed they are.
After Back-to-Back Booster Clinics Are Full, Kinney Drugs & Onondaga County Will Consider Holding More
A Pediatric Associates doctor in Camillus said they had done more than 100 COVID tests on Monday and had to stay after hours to make sure they were ready. dr. Robert Dracker of Summerwood Pediatrics says they’ve also seen an influx.
“We go through a lot of tests. A few weeks ago, there was a period where we couldn’t get tests because manufacturers couldn’t keep up with demand,” said Dr. dragon.
Most kids haven’t been in class in over a year, so districts are cautious and Dr. Dracker understands that.
The problem is we are dealing with the burden of the school system, the kids go to the school nurse with an illness and the school nurse has to get the kid tested to make sure they don’t have COVID so I sympathize with too the school nurses. They try to do their job the best they can and they also try to protect the other children, but it puts a strain on the GP practices.
