Bronx residents exploring Little Italy not only saw the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony but also got to support local businesses in the area during Small Business Saturday.
The Belmont Business Improvement District hosted the festivities at Ciccarone Park in conjunction with the Love Holds Life Children’s Cancer Foundation. The event was canceled last year due to the pandemic.
Children who showed up received Christmas presents from families supported by the foundation/
Santa Claus also came to visit. The Belmont BID says the intent is not only to spread the Christmas spirit, but also to encourage residents to support small businesses during the season.
