Gayle Benson Visits Pediatric Patients at Ochsner’s Brent House

NEW ORLEANS — Gayle Benson hosted a holiday party on Dec. 10 at Ochsner Health’s Brent House Hotel, where the atrium has been “transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with Christmas trees decked out in red and gold, a jumbo green sleigh and artificial snow.”

Benson visited with revelers as patients unwrapped gifts donated by the Winn-Dixie Women’s Development Network – New Orleans. Winn-Dixie also hosted a Christmas cookie decorating station. Each pediatric patient received a mini Christmas tree and a Tytocare digital health kit.

Supporters of the event included Benson, Tytocare, Winn-Dixie, Paper Doll Promotions, Mardi Gras Productions and Dickie Brennan & Co. catering. All participants in the event were masked and followed COVID-19 safety protocols.

“For many of our pediatric patients, this is their first time away from home during the holidays. It means the world to the patients, their families and the healthcare team here at Ochsner Hospital for Children for Ms. Gayle Benson and her friends to give these kids a little holiday magic,” said Ochsner’s Shon Cowan Baker.

Ochsner Hospital for Children has a pediatric emergency department in New Orleans and recently opened a pediatric superclinic at the Ochnser Medical Complex – The Grove in Baton Rouge. A dedicated pediatric clinic in Mandeville is expected to officially open in early 2022.
