Betty White had no biological children of her own, although she did have three stepchildren through her third marriage.

In 1963, the actress married her third husband, Allen Ludden, but he died of cancer in 1981.

Betty has three stepchildren from her marriage to Ludden: David, Sarah and Martha.

During a conversation with CBS in 2012, Betty gave details about her feelings about motherhood.

She told CBS, “No, I’ve never regretted it. I’m so compulsive about things. I know if I ever got pregnant that would have been my whole focus, of course.”

She concluded, “But I didn’t choose to have kids because I’m focused on my career. And I just don’t think as compulsive as I am that I could handle both.”

The funny lady said, “If you’ve had the best, who needs the rest? It was special. It was very special.”

The late Betty continued: “But that doesn’t stop you from having fun with someone and going out and going on dates. And Robert Redford never calls.”

She went on to reflect, “You’re going out with a couple, say. And all of a sudden you see one or the other reaching out and, or just, you know, something like that. Those are the things I miss.”
