Bethel police mourn loss of former officer to cancer

BETHEL — Bethel police announced on Saturday that former officer Liberty Andreotto died Friday after a long battle with cancer.

She was 43.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that former Bethel police officer, Officer Liberty Andreotto, passed away on December 31, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer,” the department said in an announcement on its Facebook page.

According to police, Andreotto began her career with the Bethel Police Department in 1999 as a vigilante. She was sworn in as a police officer with the department in 2001.

In 2003, Andreotto moved to the Records Department and served as the Department’s Records Supervisor for several years before leaving to raise her two children.

“Liberty was extremely caring and will always be remembered for her radiant smile,” the police said. “We ask that you keep Agent Andreotto’s family in your thoughts and prayers.”

In honor of Andreotto, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
