Atlantic Medical Group Opens Pediatric, Family Medicine Practice in Scotch Plains

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Atlantic Medical Group, Atlantic Health System’s network of physicians, has opened a new office location in Scotch Plains, bringing together some of the network’s certified pediatric and primary care providers under one roof.

Atlantic Medical Group’s Pediatrics at Scotch Plains and Family Medicine at Scotch Plains provide a convenient location on Terrill Road for local families and children seeking care.

David Levine, MD, a certified pediatrician, is coming to the Scotch Plains location after recently providing care at Atlantic Medical Group’s Florham Park location.

Offering primary care are board-certified internal medicine physicians Brian Cassidy, MD, Payal Joshi, MD, Laura Von Berg, MD, and Melvin Rubenstein, MD, who previously served patients at another location in Scotch Plains.

Dr. David Levine Dedicated to the care of newborns, adolescents and teens, Dr. Levine focuses on the continued health and overall well-being of a child’s developmental years. He is consistently referred to as “Favorite Kids Doc” by NJ Family Magazine.

With nearly 20 years of experience and dedication to young people and their families, Dr. Levine a skilled and knowledgeable diagnostician. Dr. Levine has spoken extensively in lectures and in media appearances on the topic of father’s postpartum depression. He is currently a board member of Postpartum Support International, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness, prevention and treatment of mental health problems related to having children.

After graduating with honors from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Levine’s internship and residency at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, which is one of the best children’s hospitals in the country. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization. When not practicing pediatrics, he enjoys movies and sports.

Dr. Brian Cassidy – With over 20 years of experience managing the care of patients with chronic and acute conditions and providing preventive medicine, Dr. Cassidy quality medical care delivered with thoroughness and compassion. His internship and residency were carried out at the Regional Medical Center Muhlenberg.

Dr. Payal Joshi – Dr. Joshi cares for patients from infancy to adulthood and seniors and is a strong believer in preventive medicine and optimizing each patient’s quality of life.

Dr. Joshi received her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and her medical degree from St. Georges University in Grenada, West Indies. She completed her residency training in family medicine at Overlook Medical Center, where she is now a member of the medical staff. Dr. Joshi is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians. When not at work, she likes to be outside or spend time with her family.

Dr. Lara Von Berg – Dr. Von Berg treats newborns through seniors dealing with chronic and acute illnesses, and she has a particular interest in women’s health and preventive care.

Dr. Von Berg received her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She received both her master’s degree in public health and her medical degree from St. George’s University in the West Indies. Dr. Von Berg completed her residency in family medicine at the Overlook Medical Center, where she remains on the medical staff.

Dr. Von Berg is committed to community outreach and has served as a clinical volunteer for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and in her spare time enjoys cooking, swimming, yoga, and traveling and writing. She is also fluent in Spanish.

Melvin Rubenstein, MD – Dr. Rubenstein is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, completed his internship at Barnes Hospital and his residency at Bellevue Hospital Center. He completed a fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is loved by his patients, including those from newborn to seniors.
