Arkansas Children’s Innovation Center sets pediatric healthcare hackathon | Community Groups

Arkansas Children’s Innovation Center, in partnership with entrepreneurial support organizations in Arkansas, will present a 48-hour digital health challenge with a cash prize of $10,000.

The event, known as a hackathon, will take place from January 21 to January 23, 2022 and registrations to participate are now open.

“Arkansas Children’s is committed to improving children’s health through innovation,” said Rick Barr, MD, MBA, Chief Clinical and Academic Officer for Arkansas Children’s. “These types of events present an exciting challenge for software developers across the state to build solutions that will positively impact pediatric healthcare.”

The event is a collaboration with Arkansas Children’s, Cartwheel Startup Studio, Startup Junkie Consulting, HealthTech Arkansas, and the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Contest participants will work with Arkansas Children’s clinicians and administrators to solve real-world problems in pediatric health care.

“The differentiator for our hackathon participants is that they work on validated user issues and they have an interest in Arkansas Children’s testing the solutions being built,” said Joshua Stanley, Managing Partner at Cartwheel Startup Studio. “That’s a great benefit to the participants, which is why our organization is excited to partner with Arkansas Children’s on this project.”

The digital health hackathon supports Arkansas Children’s mission to improve the health and well-being of children in Arkansas and beyond. “The Arkansas Children’s Innovation Center has taken a comprehensive approach to building a culture of innovation, and this collaborative hackathon is a tangible example of how we are leveraging the strengths of entrepreneurial service organizations across the state to help us achieve our innovation goals. said Barry Brady, chief operating officer of the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute.

Applications to participate are now open. Interested parties can register individually or as part of a team. The application deadline is midnight, December 31, 2021.
