Nick Cannon is grieving the loss of his youngest child, Zen Scott Cannon, who died of brain cancer on December 5. The TV host, who shared Zen with model Alyssa Scott, fought back tears when he announced the sad news on “The Nick Cannon Show” on Dec. 7. Nick’s seventh child, born in June, was just two months old when Nick and Alyssa discovered fluid accumulating in Zen’s skull; a tumor was discovered, requiring immediate surgery. Things took a turn for the worse around Thanksgiving, and Zen passed away last weekend after the star and Alyssa spent time with him on a Southern California beach. “People keep asking me how I’m doing,” Nick told his audience on December 8. “I say, ‘I’m vertical.’ I’m standing. That’s a good start.” On why he continues to host his show of the same name during this difficult time, he said: “For me this is not work. This is love. And I love you too. This is therapy for me. I just didn’t hear that.” He noted that due to the crowd size, fireworks, production and music, it was impossible to tell the difference between fans enjoying the show and fans in danger. “You can only help a little. you can see and whatever you are told, when they tell you to stop, you stop,” he said.

The jury has spoken
Jussie Smollett was found guilty of lying to Chicago police about a racist and homophobic assault. On December 9, a jury convicted the “Empire” alum on five of six felony counts of disorderly conduct for making false reports to police. At the trial, two men – Abel and Bola Osundairo (both were Jussie’s personal trainers) – alleged that the actor paid them to stage the early morning attack on January 29, 2019 to boost his career. However, the actor maintained his innocence and insisted the attack was not a hoax. The jury deliberated for more than nine hours before making its verdict. Jussie faces up to three years in prison, but it’s possible he won’t serve time behind bars. Now that the criminal case against the actor is over, the City of Chicago will now file a civil lawsuit. The city is suing Jussie for lost resources while investigating its fake hate crimes.
