Amazon Swansea donates to Kid’s Cancer Charity

The Amazon team at its fulfillment center in Swansea has made a donation of £1,000 to Kid’s Cancer Charity as part of the company’s global Amazon Goes Gold campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

#AmazonGoesGold, now in its fifth year, is a global initiative to highlight, support and amplify the incredible work of many organizations to increase survival through life-saving treatments and research.

Every year, Amazon supports and partners with childhood cancer organizations across Europe that make it possible for every child affected by cancer to fight for their future. This year’s charitable partners include the Starlight Foundation, Together for Short Lives and the Children’s Cancer and Leukemia Group.

The Amazon Swansea team has made a donation of £1,000 to Kid’s Cancer Charity as part of the Amazon Goes Gold campaign. The charity plans to use the money to send two local families to the beautiful Welsh coast to stay at one of four charities in a prime location in one of Haven’s parks. The families will be able to bond again, as having a child with cancer can change the dynamics of how the family can spend time together, so this will provide precious time together, and bring smiles to faces that may already have been a while. haven’t laughed in a while, doing the normal things every family does on vacation, knowing that support is at their fingertips when they need it. This has been made possible thanks to the fantastic support of Amazon Goes Gold Swansea. Thank you.

The Kids Cancer Charity has been providing respite breaks, play therapy, support groups, friendship and grief support to families across the UK for 32 years.

Amazon Goes Gold saw Amazon’s Swansea team hold a series of gold themed events for a month. The gold theme is a recognition of the international color for childhood cancer.

One of the events this year was a 48-hour PJammin’ party. The team in Swansea joined colleagues across the UK by wearing pyjamas to work in honor of children who spend every day in their pyjamas during treatment.

Amazon Swansea Site Leader, Omer Kartal, said: “It’s fantastic to be supporting Kid’s Cancer Charity as part of this year’s Amazon Goes Gold campaign and we hope the donation gives a boost to the staff and volunteers who do so much for the children in our community.”

One of the Amazon fulfillment center employees who participated in Amazon Goes Gold is Nerris Jenkins. She added: “It’s great that Amazon continues to support children’s cancer organizations both here in Swansea and around the world. I loved taking part in the activities on our site and I am delighted to be able to make this donation to such a brilliant charity in our community.”
