Amarillo Pediatrics Dentistry and Orthodontics have candy buyback to support the troops

The Amarillo Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics (APDO) held its 13th annual candy buyback event Friday to give trick-or-treaters a chance to turn in their excess candy to get paid.

Kids could bring in their excess candy to exchange for $2 per pound of candy, up to three pounds, payable in dollar bills.

The event included face painting, animals from the Amarillo Zoo, Poppy the troll, and an ambulance tour for kids to enjoy. Amarillo Crimestoppers also attended the event to create IDs for children.

All candies from the buyback will be sent to the troops, along with handmade letters from local children to honor local military members. More than 200 pounds of candy was collected this year.

All families wishing to have candy shipped to a local military member should contact 806-350-5437.
